Hidden away, behind the very busy Avenida da Liberade, is a little known gem known as the Ze Varunca Restaurant. It is not hidden in the sense that no one can see or find it easily, far from it. We mean that it is hidden because it is off the main avenue, where many restaurants are lures to tourists, drawing them into what we would call a sub-par meal experience. Both on quality and price. The locals know Ze Varunca well and will recommend it if you ask.
It is also one of the few Lisbon restaurant venues that caters easily to families, while many other places will cater mostly to the nightlife loving adults. At Ze Varunca, you will find intimacy for those romantic evenings out for just the two of you, as well as a place where you can bring the whole family.
The prices for their traditional fare are also a bit more reasonable than most Lisbon restaurants, around 15 Euros per person, with the rarity of drinks being included and dessert too.
Seasonal main courses such as pork legs and seafood stews are the mainstay at this Lisbon restaurant, along with native sausages and cheeses for starters, as well as tasty delicacies from local bakers.
