Praia do Meco Beach
The waves from the North Atlantic Ocean provide excellent surf conditions at the Praia do Meco Beach, which is also well-known for its clean and unspoilt stretch of sand.
Located around 50km away from southeast of Lisbon, this seaside offers many sections with secluded spots, making it popular with nudist beach lovers. The adult nudists can enjoy their privacy without imposing on families, for whom another stretch of soft sand, on the opposite end of the beach, awaits further down the coast. There are numerous beach amenities available along the coast, making it a convenient beach outing for people coming from close by Lisbon.
Praia do Meco Beach is one of Lisbon’s region earliest nudist beaches, from the 1970s, acknowledged as one of the first trendsetting beaches in Lisbon and rest of Europe. Recognised as one of the official naturists beaches in Portugal and constantly mentioned in various lists of top nudist beaches, its alternative lifestyle crowd does not deter other beach lovers who can enjoy the spotless coastline and gushing waves almost all year round.
Its coastal location is best accessed by driving from the nearest town of Sesimbra. Although frequent public bus services are available from Santana, this usually require a number of bus transfers from other parts of Lisbon. The lengthy journey on public transport is regarded a hassle by many frequent visitors to the Praia do Meco Beach, thus hiring a car and driving to this untainted seaside is preferred by most.
