Praia de Alvor Beach: Take a Walk on the Golden Sand
There are a lot of beautiful beaches in Algarve, and one of these is Alvor. It’s a good spot to be in for those who want a more spacious sand-and-sea combo. Praia de Alvor Beach is composed of a vast expanse of fine white sands that form part of a bay. Its waters are attractive to surfers, especially beginners, since the waves are not too tall.
There are plenty of restaurants and bars that surround the area and a lot of them are selling seafood, such as fresh fish. They also have al fresco dining for guests who prefer to catch sunup and sunset at the beach.
Majority of the guests are engaged in various water sports and activities, such as snorkelling, diving, swimming, and sailing. Some would lounge on the sand while renting their sunbeds and shades from the nearby facilities.
Praia de Alvor Beach, is around 10 minutes from the main village. Though there are many different kinds of transport, including cars for hire and buses, many do prefer taking a stroll along or toward the beach. The main town, meanwhile, is able to maintain its quaint charm and fishing-village vibe. Only a few buildings can be seen, which is good since it doesn’t obstruct the lagoon view. It is also characterized by winding and narrow roads, filled with eclectic shops, cafes, and restaurants.
Nearby you can find Lagos, a renowned maritime village and boat port. Many of the Alvor’s Algarve region guests would proceed here to enjoy Lagos beaches, most notably Meia Praia as it is one of the largest European bays.
Twenty minutes from Alvor is Monchique, where you can find white-washed hillside homes, lush vegetation, and a huge gathering of eucalyptus trees.
The charm, golden sand, and sceneries in this beach and old fishing town will surely make your visit in Algarve truly worth it.
