Praia de Albufeira Beach: Explore the Quaint Town
Albufeira is part of the popular Algarve coastline, in a region where the usable shore spans more than 28 kilometers and there are 24 beaches to suit all tastes.
Hundreds of locals and tourists head to Albufeira in Algarve to enjoy the crystal-blue waters and the fine sands. It is also one of the well-maintained beaches in the country, as certified by the Blue Flag organization (which is in charge of monitoring the quality and safety of the waters of over 40 countries).
Though swimming remains to be an engaging activity in praia de Albufeira Beach, many are into a variety of water sports, including windsurfing, while others are into diving, sailing, and snorkelling. The activities become even more accessible as there are several rental facilities within and near the beaches. Other beach items that are readily available are umbrellas and emergency kits.
A number of restaurants, beach resorts, and bars surround the Praia de Albufeira beach, however remember to go early as they are usually teeming with people from April until October.
More families for the past few years spend a lot of their time in hotels where plenty of children’s facilities are convenient. If not, they head to nearby Algarve’s attractions, from which the water park called Alcantarilha Aqualand is a popular choice.
If you are looking for more relaxing and quieter spots, you can go to close by beaches such as Praia da Gale and Balaia. Alternatively, you can take a walk to the old town and enjoy the narrow streets dotted with bars, souvenir shops, and cafes. Visit the several landmarks too like Misericordia Chapel, Igreja Parish Church, the clock tower, and a castle. Artist lovers can go to “Camara Municipal,” where a small art gallery can be found.
To tour Albufeira’s Algarve area, ride the “Giro,” or the bus service, covering three routes. You can wait for them at the “paragens” (bus stops). Moreover, tourists have special buses known as “Turistem” which will guide them through the main attractions in the area.
