This is a sight that hearkens back to the past, resembling one of the most beautiful Moorish castles of long ago, with dramatic, pyramid like ceilings draped in Italian chandeliers for indoor lighting.
So named for the sprawling orange grove that it is centered within, this Moncarapacho restaurant offers sprightly jazz music, excellent service, and some of the most delicious food offered today on the Algarve restaurant circuit. The chef at the Orangerie Restaurant creates his Mediterranean menu anew, every day, with each course based upon what is available. He uses only the finest in produce from the region, like honey from the Monchique hills, figs and almonds from the Villa Monte estate, freshly caught fish from local fishermen, and, of course, the citrus grown on the grounds surrounding this Algarve restaurant.
And what a delicious menu it is! Shrimp and Mediterranean lettuce salad garnished with a passion fruit vinaigrette, monkfish with thin potatoes and shrimp sauce, and for dessert, a pineapple vanilla skewer with ice cream and mousse. Amazing choices for fair prices, with the average meal costing around 40 Euros.
