Galeria 111: Breathe in Arts while in Lisbon
Lisbon, being the capital of Portugal, it is a cultural, economic, and historical hub and holds a certain magic, especially for those who love the arts. It is also the home of several Lisbon arts gallery, including the oldest one in the country.
Galeria 111 arts gallery is located in the Campo Grande district in Lisbon, showcasing hundreds of artworks, from sketches to sculptures and paintings. These pieces are created by both local and foreign artists, including some local well-known artists such as Antonio Ole, Diogo Evangelista, Fatima Mendonca, Leda Catunda and Joana Salvador.
This Lisbon arts gallery is well known for its many exhibitions and fairs, bringing artists from all over the world to display their artworks to the visiting public. The venue can hold a number of exhibits at once, separated in specific areas, regarding a specific theme or artist.
Since 2007, the Galeria 111 also takes part it an annual art fair, called Artelisboa, where the most representative artists are displayed together.
Besides artworks, Art Gallery 111 also has its own bookshop and sells items you may find very worthwhile, such as postcards, etches, silk screens, sketches, and lithographs.
If you are into more popular forms of art you can walk from Galeria 111 to close by Museum Bordalo Pinheiro. It contains the sketches, ceramics, sculptures, and paintings of Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, a famous Portuguese popular artist of the 19th century which is, by many, recognized as the first Portuguese comics creator.
