Big Portuguese Flavor In A Small Setting: Café Correia
As you make your way towards Sagres, following the EN125 along the Algarve coast, you will find the picturesque town of Vila do Bispo. In what used to be just a sleepy little town that most tourists would pass on by, there is now a host of cozy little restaurants and cafes, all of which are responsible for the popularity of this little hamlet suddenly growing amongst the tourist trade.
Café Correia Restaurant, a little café, like so many others on the Algarve restaurant scene, serves traditional Portuguese cuisine. Located across the street from a lovely little church, this Vila do Bispo restaurant has a bar at one end of the building that will hold 30 people easily, and the kitchen at the other. Everything is cooked fresh that day, and most of the meals are served from cooking pots that hold more than enough for two. It will take time to prepare your meal, as they are done to order, so if you are in a hurry, you may want to visit another Vila do Bispo restaurant.
Since everything is prepared fresh, there may be days when there is no fish to offer and you will have to content yourself with shellfish, chicken, or vegetarian dishes. Still in all, the generous portions at the Café Correia Restaurant can make up for any availability shortfall, better than any most Algarve restaurants. The place is a bit pricey, especially for the seafood, but worth the cost.
