Amoreiras Shopping Center: Relaxing shopping experience
The Amoreiras Shopping Center, in Lisbon, was the first modern center of a reasonable size to open in the city, being locally well known for the quality of the shopping experience it provides to visitors, as well as for its controversial architecture.
There are other big shopping centres in Lisbon, but the best of the Amoreiras shopping center is the fact that it is never too crowded. Probably this derives from the fact that it has no direct access from the metro. You need to get there walking from Marques de Pombal station, by taxi or bus. However, it is really worth a visit, for its relaxed atmosphere is perfect for a relaxed shopping experience.
You can have a pleasant walk through its halls and walkways, where you´ll find mostly everything in the varied shops, some of them offering unique Portuguese products. The supermarket is very good, in case you want to buy some local Portuguese specialties.
The best of modern Portuguese design shows itself besides all other international fashion and clothing brands. Additionally, you´ll find everything from electronics to pet items and accessories, very often at very good prices. There is even a post office, if you have forgotten to send some postcards home. When it comes to food & drink, you can choose between a quite extensive offer of international and Portuguese food.
Amoreiras Shopping Center is located in the financial district of Lisbon, north of the city centre. But it can be reached easily by bus or taxi. The closest metro station is called Marques de Pombal and, coming out of the station, you have to walk up R. Joaquim Antonio Aguiar for about 1km.
