Alma Restaurant: A Gastronomic National Treasure

Alma, in Portuguese, means “soul” and in this Lisbon restaurant, it is obvious that Chef Henrique Sa Pessoa named it so because it is a true reflection of his own soul. The menu reflects his passion for food, and you can taste that in every bite you take.
Located within the trendy Santos district, in Lisbon, this restaurant is the perfect backdrop for showcasing Chef Pessoa’s culinary skills. Alma restaurant features the inspired touch of local architect Eduardo Malhado, as well as the interior design skills of Catarina Ventura, it is a clean and elegant sanctuary dedicated to gastronomic artistry.
Alma restaurant does not cater to a particular taste, style or regional sensation. Instead, chef Henrique Sa Pessoa offers his own interpretation of classic dishes, like a suckling pig comfit with sweet potato fondant or cod with chick pea and fennel puree, reflecting the chef’s love of sensory delight that is within every dish served.
There are two tasting menus that offer three to five courses, for between 35 to 40 Euros. This has helped to spread the popularity of this Lisbon restaurant and it is recommended that you call ahead for reservations. It is often quite busy, and being able to watch the chef at work while waiting just increases the anticipation.
