Breaking Traditions With The Suigeneris Restaurant
Ever since it opened its doors in 2007, this Faro restaurant has offered a fusion type cuisine that utilizes a lot of traditional flavors in a very unique, irreverent and bold setting.
Situated between Praia de Faro and Ria Formosa, it is a combination of a restaurant, bar and terrace café, a combination that definitely stands out among the other entries in the Algarve restaurant scene.
The ground floor holds the terrace café, where black and white are the dominant colors. For around 15 Euros, you can eat cafeteria style without the cafeteria food. Fish soup and octopus salad served a la carte make it one of the front runners among the seafront Algarve restaurant offerings. With an open air dining area, featuring the persistent black and white color scheme in large umbrellas, it is a tasty and enjoyable break from surf and sand.
On the upper level, the restaurant holds sway during the late afternoon and early evening. Later in the evening, the restaurant closes down and the bar scene begins, a rarity in any Faro restaurant.
The cuisine goes from the traditional fare of fillet of hake and shrimp risotto to a la carte tapas with many of the same dishes from the café rounding off an evening of good music and fine wines. No matter which venue you choose to visit, you can count on having one of the best dining experiences anywhere in Faro.
